The virus sets the pace

Things are going well at the aurachtal youth band. Compared to the previous year, the number of active musicians was increased to 136. Due to, among other things, now three active brass classes. In the statistics can be read: 79 members are under 18 years old, 57 over 18 years old, and in training are 101 children and young people, which seven instructors taught.

In addition to the honors, the new elections of the entire leadership of the association were also on the agenda. However, there were no changes, and the association continues to be led by the female board of directors michaela stumptner, gaby lorenz, and monika heller-schmidt.

At the annual general meeting, lorenz buried the two mayors klaus schumann (uwb) from aurachtal and klaus hacker () from oberreichenbach. One of the current messages was due to the problem coronavirus. It has an effect on the youth band. "There will be no more lessons until the end of the easter vacations", declared lorenz. And the spring concert, which was planned for the first time as a joint concert with the grobenseebach youth band, will probably not take place until summer.

The last time went to the substance

For 15 years andre heller was responsible as head coach for the latin formations in TV ketschendorf – until may 2019. Almost unnoticed heller has given up his post. This has professional, but also private reasons, as he explained in an interview with our newspaper. Nevertheless, this step comes at the right time for him and he sees a good chance that it will continue with the TVK-latinformation.

Tageblatt: their departure went almost unnoticed. Was this a spontaneous decision to quit, or have you been thinking about it for a long time??

Andre heller: after my 40th birthday. It was relatively clear on the occasion of the company's 70th birthday. I've been doing this for 15 years now and for me it was always the question the last few years. You wanted to stop at the time when everything was still going on and not stand in front of a pile of broken pieces. But I have always said that as long as I still have motivation, as long as I have a goal in mind, and as long as I have fun, I will continue to do it.

Kulmbach: free surfing in the city center

Kulmbach: free surfing in the city center

Sitting in one of kulmbach's cafes and surfing the internet was previously only possible using a smartphone or surfstick. Thanks to the installation of wifi hotspots, i.E. Wireless and cost-free internet access points, it is now possible to surf for 30 minutes free of charge with any internet-enabled device at three locations in the city center.

But the hotspots also offer smartphone users some advantages, because if you dial in via the open wifi, you don't have to use your own data volume. What's more, the wifi offered by kabel deutschland is faster than the network received via cell phone.

It should work in three steps: first the hotspot has to be found. If you know where they are (see map), all you have to do is turn on the wifi. Otherwise the app "hotspotfinder" helps, so a small program in which all hotspots are listed throughout germany.

A mocking praise to the wine

A mocking praise to the wine

The cooperation between the regional winegrowers’ association and the "kunstvereint" interest group bears plump fruit. In the fourth vernissage of the still young cooperation, the partners presented the quick-draw artist carlo dernbach together with the hammelburg dialect singer konrad albert, who presented his new CD live.

The result was a homage to frankenwein, which dernbach from karlstadt created in only four weeks in around 20 smaller and coarser caricatures. The initial foundation for this was formed by a tour through the hacker economies of mainfranken, which obviously fired the draftsman’s imagination.
"You have to thank god for everything, especially for the wine from france" he called petrus floating on a cloud, the bocksbeutel sweetly flying around him. The beaming winemaker, lying in bed with a bottle of frankenwein and saying: "frankenwein – the highest of feelings", is to the ergotzen. Every visitor who looked at the works in praise of the dry grape juice with some humorous mockery, a smile came to his lips.

This was exactly the purpose of maria heckmann’s funeral council – wine and humor go together. Professor wolfgang gehring, who has been a friend of carlo dernbach for five decades, described his artistic career. Accordingly, the "karschter" asserted himself even in the mondanen munchner kunstlerszene, which wants something heiben.

Heibmann and rassau convince in coburg

Heibmann and rassau convince in coburg

Everyday life is the true home of madness. The punchlines that life writes quite unintentionally and seemingly by the way – they are the stuff from which volker heibmann and martin rassau distill their programs. The comedian duo from furth serves up easily digestible entertainment with a built-in recognition effect at its coburg guest performance.

"Sold out" – the label at the appearance in the congress house makes the evening a home game, even if the coburg may be away from the further dialect but some decisive sound colorings. Heibmann and rassau's punchlines do not fail because of the french language barrier – on the contrary.

Schrage perucken
The jokes ended without any start-up difficulties. The absurd tricks of the windy insurance agent, the bizarre dialogues between the train passenger and the train attendant – they demonstrated how easily banal reality can be heightened to the grotesque. A few requisites, weird wigs, garish clothes in screaming colors and shapes, plus the appropriate grimaces – supposedly everyday encounters are transformed into small scenes in which the liberating effect of laughter can unfold uninhibitedly.

The king of the water returns

The king of the water returns

It is still a rare luck in bavaria to see a fish otter. Like 120,000 years ago, it gradually enriches our rivers and floodplains again. For this reason, the coburg natural history museum, in cooperation with the coburg district group of the federation for nature conservation, is showing the exhibition "fish otter – the king of water returns". Until the 29th. November this year the exhibition can be seen.

The nimble fish hunter was originally widespread throughout europe, emphasized museum director carsten ritzau at the opening of the exhibition. However, the animals were hunted, also because of their fur. Since the 1980s, the otter was thought to be extinct in southern germany.

Some sightings

Meanwhile, relatively strong populations are back in the bavarian forest area. Traces of otter existence are also noticed now and then in the coburg region. Sightings by photo traps in the surroundings of bad rodach from the year 2011 and more current kotspuren could be assigned to it. Stefan beyer of the bavarian league for the protection of nature and the environment (BUND) said that the return of the approximately 1.50-meter-long predator was not universally welcomed. There are fishing clubs and pond keepers and various interest groups who are somewhat concerned about the reappearance of the slim jager. Although it is on the red list of endangered species, the pond keepers and their lobby in the upper palatinate succeeded in getting the otter released for shooting as well. The exhibition at the coburg natural history museum aims to show that it is possible for humans and otters to live together. For example, there is an otter manager at the state agricultural office who works with three local otter advisors. They came to the farms and advised the pond keepers, if necessary, how to make their water "otter friendly" could be arranged. They also noted the damage caused by the otters. Protective fences and compensation payments, as well as horizontal migration paths for the otter along water-crossing bridges and the like, made possible a coexistence between the pond keeper and the otter that was not always free of conflict.

Forderverein krebskranker patienten donates training equipment

Forderverein krebskranker patienten donates training equipment

Station 63 at the regiomed hospital in coburg recently received a special donation from the forderverein krebskranker patienten coburg und umgebung (association for cancer patients in coburg and the surrounding area): this is the second time that the volunteer association has donated medical training equipment to the station, which will be used in the future for physiotherapeutic exercise therapy for cancer patients.
Cancer can lead to a variety of physical and mental disorders, which are exacerbated by the necessary medical interventions such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. This can create a vicious circle of immobility and loss of independence. Holistic exercise therapy can work wonders here. The coburg clinical center therefore offers individual exercise training for cancer patients, which is adapted to the personal performance level, needs and preferences of the patients. The focus is on improving strength and endurance, while exercises to strengthen gait and balance complement the training. "Physical fitness leads to noticeably fewer side effects, increases self-confidence and has been shown to improve disease prognosis. Exercise therapy thus has a positive effect on the course of the disease and the quality of life of our patients in the best sense of the word", according to christof lamberti, head of the coburg oncology center. With the donation of a new ergometer, the forderverein signaled its support for the valuable work of the oncology center. The device, which is specially designed for the medical sector, will be used in physiotherapy work with cancer patients from now on.
"From my own experience, I can say how important movement is in these difficult times", according to hans morhard, chairman of the association and himself a patient at the coburg clinical center. "That's why we are doing everything we can to support the team of dr. To support lamberti in its important work in this area."

Classics for the feast

No one wants to stand in the kitchen forever on christmas eve. But he still wants something special on the table. So we’re looking for festive classics that don’t take long to prepare. An overview:

– potato salad with sausage: the salad tastes even better on the second day, so it is worth preparing it a day in advance. "Then it tastes best", finds markus augst. He is the cake chef at nells park hotel in trier and member of the association of cooks in germany (VKD). "The salad can also be enriched with cucumber slices or some rendered bacon", suggest august. Another alternative: just before serving the salad, mix in lots of fresh herbs.

– christmas carp or trout: it’s often called "carp blue served with boiled potatoes and horseradish sauce. Alternatively, you can cut the fish into pieces, bread them and fry them. "The fresh fish must be carefully scaled and cleaned before preparation", explains augst. If you want to speed things up, you can also prepare a trout in aluminum foil. This dish is easy to prepare: chop different kinds of fresh vegetables in the morning, fry and root them, put a trout on baking paper sprinkled with lemon juice and worcester sauce, put the vegetables in the belly of the trout and over the fish, sprinkle everything with wine and close the baking paper. In the evening, a tray with the trout packages is then put in the oven at 140 degrees for 20 minutes – and the meal is ready.
