Mariah carey to sing 'hero' on new year's eve

After her botched performance last year, mariah carey plans to make a second attempt with her hit "hero" on new year’s eve in new york.

Around 20 minutes before midnight (local time), the 47-year-old is expected to stand on the stage at times square before the traditional "ball drop" there rings in 2018.

"A new year is all about new beginnings," TV host ryan seacrest told the ABC network on friday, who will host the show again on sunday. "We are happy to have you back with us again."Seacrest did not reveal who suggested a new edition after the unsuccessful performance in december 2016.

Fans experienced embarrassing minutes at the end of 2016, when carey’s vocals from her rough hits could be heard, but she stood partly silent on the stage. The singer looked helpless as she held the microphone out for the fans to sing along with, while dancers played the choreography behind her. Her team later spoke of defective headphones and blamed the production company.

Last week, her christmas song "all I want for christmas is you" climbed to the top of the U.S. Charts for the first time – 23 years after it was released.

In germany, too, the song is ranked higher than ever before this year, as the chart investigators from gfk entertainment announced on friday – at number three this week.
